Boston is known for being the home of a number of neighborhoods each of which has a special characteristic making it seem like a small city in itself. Allston, placed near universities and colleges and the location of the Honan-Allston public library attracts many young professionals and students, adding to the cultural diversity of the community. Back Bay is noted for the celebrities that frequent its shops and restaurants which are fashionable and unique, as well as its landmarks: Prudential Center, John Hancock Tower, Trinity Church, and Boston Public Library, while Beacon Hill keeps the image of the old Boston with its brick houses and gas lamp-lined narrow streets. Brighton is home to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and Franciscan Children’s Hospital, attracting medical professionals, while Charlestown is a historical site being home to the Bunker Hill Monument, Navy Yard, and the USS Constitution.

While East Boston is peopled with immigrants from Italy, Central and South America, Southeast Asia, North End is characterized by the majority of Italian Americans in its community and Dorchester’s diverse community is filled with Ireland, Vietnam, and Cape Verde natives. Chinatown is the country’s third largest Chinese community, while has a diverse population of Irish, Jewish, Haitian, and African Americans.

The Leather District is both a historical place and a modern neighborhood with its businesses, malls and restaurants; Jamaica Plain is both a business spot and with the Jamaican pond, a venue for leisure activities such as biking and walking. Mission Hill is home to the historic Mission Church; Hyde Park is home to the Neponset River and George Wright Golf Course; while South Boston attracts tourists with Castle Island, South Boston Waterfront, and Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. South End is characterized by its busy mix of Victorian homes, and business and arts community; Roslindale is marked with its condominiums mixed with unique shops and nature parks; while Roxbury is also host to business and arts communities with the Dudley Square, Crosstown, Grove Hall, and Roxbury Center for the Arts, Culture and Trade.
